Donetsk, Ukraine: 2012 Olympic Champion, Renaud Lavillenie of France has proven himself yet again breaking the Pole Vault World Record. With a Jump of 6.16m (20'2-1/2") during the Pole Vault Stars Competition in Donetsk, Ukraine, Lavillenie has surpassed the event's host and previous World Record Holder IAAF Vice President Sergey Bubka. The previous pole vault world record had stood for nearly twenty one years; set by Sergey Bubka on February 21, 1993 at 6.15m (20' 2 1/4") in his home town, Donetsk, Ukraine. Bearing witness to the record breaking jump, the former world record holder graciously praised Lavillenie's accomplishment, congratulating him, and honorably passing the baton to this remarkable young star.
It is an honor that these great athletes choose to use UCS/Spirit vaulting poles. From the entire UCS family - congratulations!

Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act: Phthalates Provision for Toys
In August 2008, President Bush signed into law the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), (H.R. 4040). The CPSIA overhauled the Consumer Product Safety Act, and responded, in part, to public concerns about imported toys containing lead. Among the CPSIA’s provisions are restrictions on six phthalates in toys and children’s products. These restrictions became effective February 10, 2009.
The phthalates restrictions of the CPSIA apply to specified phthalates in particular products:
DEHP, DBP and BBP: There were permanent restrictions, effective February 10, 2009, on the sale of children’s toys and child care articles with concentrations of more than 0.1 percent of di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) or benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP).
DINP, DIDP and DnOP: CPSIA placed temporary (interim) restrictions, effec

Wake Forest University Strength Coaches approached UCS Strength & Speed to assist in redesigning their existing weight room from the ground up. The athletic strength training facility caters to all 16 intercollegiate athletic programs, both women’s and men’s, including football. The existing facility had a wide variety of equipment amassed over several years from several manufacturers. Because of the confined space and numerous machines, the facility felt crowded and dark.
In order to prevent the space from feeling confined after the renovation, an open floor plan was selected with no raised platforms and clean lines. The new X-10 Rack was developed because of it’s ability to adapt to all of the program needs while meeting the footprint requirements the facility demanded to be efficient. Careful consideration was given to color scheme of the facility. UCS consulted with interior decorators to ensure that the new facility would appear not only spacious but bright as well.
