Always
insure that the facility (landing areas, standards, etc.) is set up safely,
and in full accordance with all rules: |
| |
|
DO NOT
POLE VAULT WITHOUT BASE-PROTECTION PADS ON THE STANDARDS. If in doubt
about the use of the base-protection pads, call UCS, toll-free, at 1.800.526.4856. |
| |
|
DO NOT
JUMP ON A LANDING AREA WHICH DOES NOT HAVE AN APPROPRIATE TWO-INCH TOP
PAD. |
| |
|
Be certain
that all hooks are connected to the rings of the front units and base-unit
sections of the landing area. The front unit of the pole vault landing
should be placed one inch behind the vault box. |
| |
|
If there
is concrete to the left, to the right, in front of, or behind the landing
area, DO NOT JUMP! |
| |
Read
all warning labels on poles and landing areas before jumping. Take the
time to fully inspect the pole, landing area, standards, and the surrounding
area before vaulting. |
| |
Vaulters
should always practice under the supervision of qualified coaches. |
| |
Vaulters
should never use poles rated below their weights. This is an NHSF rule! |
| |
Vaulters
should always use the recommended grip - placing the top hand between
six and 18 inches from the top of the pole. |
| |
Vaulters
should strive for an efficient take-off that will enable them to land
safely in the middle of the pit. This entails keeping the take-off foot
in the center of the runway (below the fully extended top arm) and accelerating
through the take-off. |
